Sometimes life sucks, and it’s usually because I’ve inverted my C.O.R.E.
This is a simple life hack, but if you’re trying to live a more joyful life, it works wonders.
The CORE of Misery:
Competition
Obligation
Reaction
Expectation
The CORE of Joy:
Collaboration
Opportunity
Responsibility
Experience
Competition vs Collaboration
Competition is working against each other.
Collaboration is working with each other.
The fearful compete. The confident collaborate.
Obligation vs Opportunity
Obligation is focusing on the bad stuff.
Opportunity is recognizing the good stuff.
You invent obligations. You create opportunities.
Reaction vs Responsibility
Reaction is taking action without thinking (re-action). You act the same way you’ve acted in the past, regardless of whether or not the action is destructive.
Responsibility is your ability to respond (response-ability). You first decide whether an action is constructive, then choose your response.
Reaction is weakness. Responsibility is power.
Expectation vs Experience
Expectation is about the future. It leads to relief or disappointment.
Experience is about the now. It leads to greater understanding.
Expectations are imaginary. Experiences are real.
Life shouldn’t suck. It should be a good time for everyone involved.
Next time you feel less joyful, remember your C.O.R.E. and put things back in alignment. 🙂
